The Chargers are an off- shoot of the Believers. Last year a bunch of cousins led by SAS veterans Razi & Najeeb got together and formed the Believers.
Razi & Najeeb were part-time last year so Hamza & Musaib ran the show and the team got off to a pretty good start last year at 2-2 but things fell apart due to attendance and chemistry issues and the believers wound up ending season on a six game skid. The young guns Hamza and Musaib did a great job making sure the team played hard and showed up despite tough times at the end of the year.
This year Razi became full time and took over as captain. Team name was changed and recruiting began in the late spring. Razi targeted 6 guys and was able to land 5 of them. PJ, Bobby, Nadeem, Sajeel & Mitul have provided veteran leadership and have energized this team. Despite an opening day blowout this team has shown resolve and different people have stepped up each week to make the Chargers a force year two in the SAFL. The leadership qualities that Razi brings is unparalleled in the SAFL. He brings so much emotion and heart that his team fights for him. So far their signature win was last week, in 5 overtimes the Chargers held on to beat a one loss team in the Bandits who had championship aspirations this year.
The Chargers have left their imprint on the SAFL and now are one game away from reaching the Super Bowl.
