- - Week 4 showed how much parody there is
in the league this season. 4/5 games were decided by mercy rule. 2 teams are undefeated, 2 teams have 1 loss
and 6 teams with 2 or less wins. It’s still anybody’s game….
- - The Game of the Week between Stop n Go and The Decepticons didn't live up to all the hype. Both teams were jockeying for 1st place but as the old story goes Stop n Go comes up on top via Mercy. Stop n Go continued on their relentless pursuit of perfection they put up 34 while The Decepts, who up until this game were a scoring machine, put up only 6 points. Stop n Go are firing on all cylinders and are clicking on both sides of the ball. It will be very tough for any team to beat them for the rest of the way.
- - The Decepts did an admirable job taking
on Stop n Go. They were only a few plays away from catching up but dropped
balls and not taking advantage of miscues from the Stop n Go defense defined
this game. We are confident that Moe Begawala will get his crew ready for Those
Ravens this Saturday.
- - All players have to be responsible for
the trash they have. Players are leaving bottles all over the side of the field
and the Park has complained. As a courtesy to all those who play in this league
and other leagues please throw away your trash.
- - One of the big surprises from this
weekend was from Slumdogs vs Savages. Savages lost QB Anwar and now are struggling
to find themselves in the scheme of things in the league. They brought in a
talented QB in Shuman but the chemistry was definitely not there yet. It is
still only mid-season but they take on Stop n Go this week. If the Savages can
pull this one out they will be right back in the thick of things.
- -The Slumdogs are 3-1 and are vying for a
top seed in the standings and it can happen at any time. Mike Chu is looking unstoppable and with the
defense that they have they are looking as good as their record indicates, if
not better. They had a 1 point loss to Stop n Go and ever since then they have
been on a mission. Let’s see if the dogs can keep on pounding…
- - The Warriors got their 1st
win via mercy albeit against a Desert Eagles team who is still trying to find
their identity. Aldo did a nice job and is starting to get into mid-season
form. They have a tough schedule with Empire, Stop n Go and Savages coming into
town. Can they hold onto this momentum? Aldo has been touted as a big time QB
let’s see if he can deliver.

- - Desert Eagles still don’t have a win but
they are not out of it yet. They have had glimpses of success but they still
cannot close out offensive series effectively.
They have been dropping way too many balls and receivers are running the
same routes over and over and the Defenses are really starting to pick up on
it. Fellas it’s time for a change in the gameplan. Although their not out of it
yet the season isn’t getting any younger.
- - One of the games that weren’t decided by
mercy was decided in OT. The Bandits didn’t look like they were ready for this
one. Empire is one of their biggest rivals and they came out flat. Although
they went up by touchdowns at one point Empire never stopped rolling. Bandits defense
looked a little slow which might mean that teams are starting to break down
their man defense. Luckily Sakib and Jawed had an excellent day with each other
and Sakib with the game winning score closed it out. Although the Bandits won
it was way too close for comfort.
-
Empire was missing Captain Atif Tatari
in this Semi-final rematch and if he had been there the game might have been in
the favor of Empire. But we will never know. Empire played a strong game
against the Bandits and something tells us that they might be going on a run.
They have Warriors, Ravens and a HUGE game against Stop n Go. These next few
weeks will define the season for this team.
- - There will be a field change. The field
we play on has got torn up so we will move to the field right next to the one
we have been playing on.
- - Chargers keep on charging. They put on a
show against Those Ravens. They displayed excellent offense and defense and
they used the clock very wisely. They are 5th in the standings and
any team that is ahead of them needs to watch their back because one loss can
change the whole dynamic of the standings in favor of the Chargers. This is a
team not should not be taken lightly if you do you will pay.
- - Those Ravens have a tremendous amount of
talent. When they are clicking they are one very impressive. But being
impressive doesn’t always translate into W’s. Ahmad Halimi has done a good job
on re-recruiting after a number of misfortunes that befell on him and his team regarding the roster.
Coming up they have the Decepts, Empire and the Bandits if they can pull of
some wins then look for this team to start climbing the rankings.
- - Interesting games this week at
Eisenhower Park. Invite your friends and family to spread the BUZZ about the
SAFL.
