Game 1: Stop n Go vs. Decepticons
A much anticipated match up of undefeated teams didn't quite live up to the GOTW billing. Stop N Go came out and took the early lead and never looked back. They showed why they are the class of the league. They are definitely the team to beat. Stop n Go have a speedy wide receiver core which was on display along with a solid QB. Decepts came out flat and didn't have the same excitement going into this game.
QB Moe had an off game. The veteran Stop N Go team came out playing lock down defense stopping the Decepticons on the first two possessions followed by 3 interceptions. QB Moe made some questionable passes throughout the game. Stop N Go Captain, Farhan, added 3 sacks but the last one was costly as he broke a finger and may be out for the rest of the year. The Decepts defense was exploited and Stop n Go was finding all the holes.
Final Score: Stop n Go 34 Decepticons 6.
Game 2: Slumdogs vs. Savages
For the first time this season Slumdogs were able to have more than 7 guys for a game. They came out fast scoring 3 straight touchdowns and held the Savages scoreless in the first half with great defense. Savages, without their first 2 QBs, really struggled to score. The second half was not much different as Linds was able to pick off the Savages for a touchdown. Pavan added another score with a touchdown to Ketan.
Mike Chu had his way with the Savages 'vaunted' defense, as both man to man coverage and zone coverage could not stop him from putting up 38 points against the Savages. Jobin seemed to run wild over them on offense and on defense. The Savages were not at full strength, as their top 2 receivers in Mike and Hash seemed to be injured from the get-go and could not be productive at all. Guest QB Shuman was horrible in his debut, as he could not move the chains the entire game, as he finished the game with only a handful of short completions and 3 interceptions, all of which seemed as lollipops to the other team. The game ended in mercy fashion. Slumdogs really seem to be rolling right now.
Final Score Slumdogs 38 Savages 6
Game 3: Desert Eagles vs. Warriors
Warriors finally got their first win of the season. Even though the Desert Eagles are not the best team in the league, this win is very crucial for the Warriors. Having played the best top 3 teams the past weeks, this first win, and their next games, are very important. Their offense was on the point this week, very little mistakes were made, and their defense stepped up big time.
They claimed 4 interceptions and returned one for a touchdown. If they can sustain the same tempo they played this past week they will have a chance to rise in the rankings and make a push for good seeding for the playoffs. Till then, don't sleep on the Warriors.
Final Score: Warriors 32 Desert Eagles 6
Game 4: Empire vs. Bandits
In a much anticipated match-up, the Bandits and Empire were looking to renew their rivalry Both teams came out aggressive as the Bandits were able to get out to an early lead. It was a classic game by these two titans. Empire started off the season kind of lackluster and even though they did not win this game they played their hearts out and the experts feel that they are about to turn it around and start winning games. Bandits came out strong in this one scoring 2 TDs within the first few minutes of the game. QB Jawed Sarwar drops back and hits Baktash Gorgani in stride 40 yards down field for the Bandits first TD. Bandits defense goes on the field and its a 3 and out for Empire. QB Jawed drops back and this time hits Marc Flynn down field for Bandits 2nd TD.
In overtime, Empire wasn't able to score while the Bandits did, as Empire played a hard fought game, but had nothing to show for it.
Final Score: Bandits 34 Empire 28
Game 5: Those Raven vs. Chargers
The Chargers headed into this game coming off their first win in impressive fashion vs. Empire. The Ravens came in after suffering two straight defeats to last year's finalists. The Chargers were without starting QB PJ Mckenna. In his absence, Razi led the team on a long opening drive which unfortunately did not end up in points as the Chargers were stopped on the half yard line. Those Ravens failed to capitalize on their goal line stop as they started the game with a three and out. On the Chargers next drive, Nadeem "the dream" Khan scored on a 65 yard strike - but most of the yardage came by virtue of his legs. Immediately after that, Sajeel Haque would make his mark on this game as he picked off a pass headed for one of the Ravens speedy receivers and took it back for a pick 6. The Ravens had trouble moving the ball but wound up scoring on a hail mary right before halftime.
In the second half the Chargers simply asserted themselves and dominated the game in all three phases of the game. Great defense by Bobby, Mitul, Sajeel, Ibrahim and Nadeem provided the impetus for three straight TD's - the last of which occured after a safety sack by Nadeem. Two of those TD's were by Sajeel who had a spectacular game. The last TD came on diving catch by Hamza after Mitul gave the Chargers great field position with a superb punt return. Mir Khan made his debut and had an all around great game. With the win the Chargers climbed back to .500. Those Ravens couldn't seem to get anything done. More interceptions, more missed flag pulls and next thing you know, the game was over.
Final Score: Chargers 35 Those Ravens 6
