- Very memorable 1st week to the SAFL. Had some firework performances like Mike Chu, Anwar Sadat, Burhan Gorgani etc at QB, Sakib, Jose, Fawad, Joel, Shazad etc on offense, the whole Spartan team, Zulfikar, Vish Singh, Khuram, Dipan, etc on defense. Lot of atheletes in this league. Gonna be a lot of fun.
Lets start with the Outlaws. Great jersey’s, full roster, good leadership. So what happened? 39-7 to a average Slumdogs squad? That is embarrassing. Fans are crying for a QB change and to go with Jeremy at the QB position. We’ll see if Captain Moe listens to them. Defensively they looked like a joke too. Hope the 2 hour practice helped fellaz.
Slumdogs just might be known as the team with Mike Chu at QB. What an arm. But lets see how they fare against an elite squad before giving out any awards. Empire at week 2 should be a great test.
Talking about Empire-WHAT A COMEBACK. Down 13-0 Shazad would not let them quit. Riding mostly on Dipans scrambling, Shazads receiving skills and a lot of great defense they beat a favored Stop N’ Go squad. Stop N’ Go must be doubting themselves after letting go of such a lead. 0-1 isn’t what the SAFL community was expecting. Ramy and Suleman was missing. But this is a no excuse kinda league.
Bellerose Wolfpack looked about done without the services of Bubbles prolonged absence. He might be out as long as week 6. Backup Sandy didn’t seem like he is capable of leading Wolfpack to the promised land. Lets see what Captain Niraj comes up with. With shoddy qb play they were still only 6 points away from beating a Savages squad.
Talking about Savages it must have been a dissapointment to come down to the wire against a team without their starting qb. QB Zulf‘s mechanic‘s seem out of whack right now. Great receptions from Joel Enai and a stingy zone defense led by Yash, Zulf, Pankaj and of course Irfan prevented them from losing to the Wolfpack. They must go deep in their playbook to combat an aggressive Spartan squad this week.
Believers vs. Bandits. WOW what a game. Back and forth match that was made for TV. If you weren’t there to witness this game you missed out what SAFL is all about. Both teams showed a lot of heart and would not quit. Believers pulled out this one but Bandits looked like the better team throughout the day.
Spartans looked absolutely dominant against a poor N.G.N.G Squad. QB Anwar was in midseason form, defense was led by Hashim, Jose had a lot of turnovers and batted balls. Gonna be tough beating this squad of speedsters. No Game No Gimmicks? Captain and super-athlete must be disgusted with his teams pitiful performance. He sure seemed like it with outbursts all over the field. Long season ahead for Special K?
Week 2 matchup I’m looking forward to? Spartans vs. Savages for sure. .
Things I would change? Fields be painted. It was tough to make calls on out of bounds plays with cones. Savages for example lost a TD with a terrible out of bounds call.
Non-SAFL thoughs-
-BIG SURPRISE. Michael Vick is injured. Jamaal Charles out for the year.
-V-Jax, Maclin, Austin, Larry Fitx, Fred Jack, Brady etc with huge days. -Cam Newton is my fav new player.
-FORTE NEEDS TO GET PAID.
-Patriots vs. Saints for the Super Bowl.
-SASL Fall Ball started with little fanfare. Hype or no hype the league started off with a bang. SWAT looks tough once again. Who are the Modulators? Empire looks like favorites to win it again. Ballers getting swept?
