RECAP Week 3
Decepticons vs. Panthers
Decepts were lucky to catch the Panthers on an off day. Fortunately, for the Decepticons, the offense was clicking with TJ, who has become one of the premier players in the league, ball hawker Jobin George, Maaz and Waqas catching touchdowns multiple TD's. QB Moe has been on fire ever since week one's debacle.
The defense was able to create turnovers with TJ and Job ( with a pick 6) having multiple int's. The Decepts have a lot of depth this season and are now one of the Top 5 teams in the league this season.
For second week in a row Razi started off the game throwing it to the other team. Three early picks resulted in a 20 point hole which the Panthers could not overcome. On the bright side Razi took himself out and Newcomer John Aknoukh led the team on 4 scoring drives including TD tosses to Ahmed, Razi, Musaib and ZQ. The Panthers defense was out of sorts all day and had no answer for the Decepticons Offense who is shredding through the league the past 2 weeks.
Final score 59-26
Empire vs Warriors
Warriors once again come up strong and defeating Empire by 41-7, shut out in the 4th quarter. QB Aldo once again bringing his A game to the field going 23 and 14 with 5 TD's to his WR's Richie with 2, Tarkan A.K.A Turk with 2, Khuram with 1 and Niraj with 1 Defensive TD.
Their Defense from the start was looking good by stoping every move Empire had. Warriors coming from a tough lost last year in the SAFL Bowl are coming back strong being 3-0 this year and looking very strong out there on he field. They can't wait to get to the field to work next week. They are confident and hungry for more wins.
The Warriors are now standing on top of the standings and looking down at every team in the league.
Final score 41-7
P.S.R. vs. Bengals
This past Saturday's game was a tough one for PSR as they faced a versatile Bengals squad in overtime. PSR was able to put up the first TD but Bengals answered pretty quickly. The QB positions of Abir (Bengals) and Robin (PSR) was a back and forth as both players were using the field to their advantage.
Unfortunately, some of their receivers couldn't pick them up, both to due error and solid defense. Mike Chu finished at the QB position and had some keys plays to Joshil, who has been showing that his speed and hands are a force to be reckoned with. PSR not only managed to score first during overtime but were able to stop Bengals during their possession.
P.S.R is one of the 3 new teams this season and they are sure making a statement week in and week out. Lets see what they have in store for the SAFL this coming week....
Final score 25-19 (OT)
Savages vs. Stop n Go
Entertaining game between the defending champs and Savages. This was a back and forth type of game. Each team going punch for punch and coming down to the final possession of the game with only 45 seconds left on the clock.
The Savages got the ball and drove down the field and won on a TD reception by Hashim Naveed on 4th and 12 with one second remaining on the clock. The Savages gave the defending champs their first loss of the season and did it in a very exciting manner. The Savages might have made their best decision to date with placing QB Z at the helm. Powerful arm and a brain to match. Don't sleep on Stop n Go, they are known to bounce back quickly and be even better so the league needs to watch out...
Final Score 24-20
Bandits vs. Browns
The game was very exciting until all the way to the end. The score at halftime was 26-26. The Bandits' safety, Harvey Harding Jr. picked off the first play of the game and returned it for a TD. Which gave the Bandits a much needed boost. The Browns answered right back with a TD of their own. It seems that QB Shu has finally gelled with his team. Do not sleep on their QB he is deadly accurate and makes very little mistakes. Were the first few weeks an adjustment period for the Browns?
The teams exchanged scores until at about 4 minutes to go, the Browns made a game changing interception and subsequently scored and went up two scores. The Bandits kept coming at the Browns, ultimately falling just short in a very close and exciting game. The final score does not tell the story of how close this game was. The Bandits finally were able to put points on the board scoring 32 points and Burhan was also finally looking healthy at the QB position.
The Bandits are only steps away from being a competitive team this year but with their defense giving up 50+ points a game they need to make some major adjusments on the defensive side. Knowing this team, though, we are certain they will turn it around.
Final score 56- 32
