Power Rankings Week 1

1. Earned the right to open the season atop the rankings as two-time defending champs. Sure seems like they got the message that a three-peat won’t be easy as PSR gave them a run for their money.

2. Warriors – true to their name, played with only six men and still put up a stout 44 points in dismissing the Decepticons and showing the rest f the league that they did not miss a beat.

3. Panthers – formerly the Chargers, they are entering the 2013 season with something to prove after taking down the Bandits in that epic playoff game last year. First step towards a championship was taken with a big win over Empire.

4.  Savages – if these were the Hype Rankings, these guys would surely be number one year after year. It’s time for the Savages to put up or shut up in year 3. They might just be for real after a  convincing win over the Bandits.

5. PSR – formerly the Slumdogs, gave the defending champs all they could handle. Don’t imagine  these guys lounging in the bottom half of the power rankings for much too long.

6. Bengals – welcome to the SAFL, where you drop 51 points and are still ranked sixth. Not that we don’t believe this squad has to be dealt with, it’s more that the win came against a Browns team that looked lost.

7. Bandits – it’s tough playing against a good Savage defensive unit. Things get tougher when your  starting QB gets injured. Surely, we expect the Bandits to bounce back.

8. Empire – lost a good game to a hungry Panthers team. Most teams with solid QBs tend to do  well over the long haul, and we assume that will be the case for Empire.

9. Browns – welcome to the SAFL, wasn't a great first impression. This team has been together for  quite some time and we expect things to get better (on and off the field) before they get worse.

10. Decepticons – not being able to take advantage of a short-handed team offensively raises some  questions about their ability to compete with the SAFL elite. However, the season is still young and surely full of surprises.
