Week One Power Ranking
1: Stop N Go
The defending champs are looking to repeat another championship season. Farhan
and Usman have done a great job keeping all the pieces of the puzzle that got
them to the championship together. They are still the team to beat. Defending
champs rated #1.
2. Slumdogs
The runner-up in last
season’s championship game. They played very well last year and were in danger
of missing the playoffs. But once they got in they went on a Giants like Superbowl
run but came up short against Stop n Go. Joshil and Mike Chu will be looking to
start off strong and carry their team into the playoffs to try and capture a
championship.
3: Savages
They were a solid team
last year and beat the Spartans in the playoffs in a huge upset. MVP Anwar Sadat
and all-star Hashim Naveed dismantled the number one team in the league last
year and merged with the Savages. It will be interesting to see how all these working
parts gel together. One thing is for certain, the Savages are one of the teams
to beat this season.
4: Bandits
A struggling team for
most of last year until they put it all together with stars in Marc Flynn, Harvey
Harding and Sakib Hassan. The Bandits was another team that went on a
Cinderella run and went deep into the playoffs until being knocked off by the
eventual champions, Stop N Go. Adding Jawaid as their QB and a few other key
parts, The Bandits are looking to make a strong statement from the get go.
5: Empire
These guys were
considered the best team in the league till injuries and attendance issues
hindered them late into the season. They kept most of the parts together but
have added a huge talent in Kunal. Atif has his team ready to start and end
strong. They are serious contenders for winning it all this year.
6: Warriors
A new team in the SAFL
that formed with a few members from No Games No Gimmicks started by QB and
Captain Aldo. Aldo had a MVP caliber season last season and is arguably one of
the best QBS in the league. He put this team together with some friends and
family but they are looking like a very solid team beating the Savages in
off-season play. Let’s see what these guys can do.
7: Decepticons
Captained by Moe Begawala,
an explosive athlete in his own right has brought a new team to the SAFL and he
believes he has gathered enough talent to compete with the tremendous talent
that the league has to offer.
8: Chargers
They were known as the
believers last year but Razi Hussani has taken the helm. Although they had a
not so stellar 2011 season they have revamped and managed to keep all-stars
Najeeb and Musaib returning and some key new additions such as PJ and Nadeem
they look like a force to be reckoned with.
9: Those Ravens
A last minute team that
is captained by Ahmad Halimi from the SASL Outlaws. He looks to bring a lot of
talent from the SASL and see if softball and football can mix. Good luck to
them!
10: Desert Eagles
Adam Eilfey, brings
another team into the SASN family. We don’t have too much information about
them just yet because they are also a new team but Adam always brings high
level talent into the league and we expect the same in the SAFL. Good Luck.
