Jobin George
"..Anticipation and being in the right spot."
SAFL: Jobin, Thank you for
joining us. You are officially on the Hot Seat.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Jobin: Age: 27
Profession: energy
engineer aka tree hugger
Hobbies: Play any and
every sport except the ones played on ice. Madden on xbox (We should have an
SASN league for that!)
cafes and networking.
Jobin: Wow SAFL asks for a lot of personal info.
Jobin: Wow SAFL asks for a lot of personal info.
SAFL: You didn't hear about the SA matrimonial services?
Jobin: Oh holla! Sign me up!
SAFL: Your team mates thought it was time for u to get married.. :);
SAFL: Did you look up to any athletes when growing up? If so, who?
Jobin: Yes. Michael Owen. I'm a huge soccer fan (MAN UTD!!)
SAFL: What other SA sports do you participate in?
Jobin: None. I wanted to take part in the soccer league but ended up conflicting with the football league.
SAFL: Which position do you play in SAFL?

Jobin: Safety
SAFL: How do you feel about your chances against the SAFL competition this year?
SAFL: How do you feel about your chances against the SAFL competition this year?
Jobin: I feel like the competition this year will be much harder
because of the increase in talent level in the league plus most teams know each
other’s strengths and weaknesses. I'd say we are quietly optimistic about
winning it all this year (fingers crossed).
SAFL: How is your team better this year as compared to last year? What were the key areas/positions that you focused on improving this year?
SAFL: How is your team better this year as compared to last year? What were the key areas/positions that you focused on improving this year?
Jobin: Just the overall team chemistry is far better. We got a bunch
players who just wanna got out there compete hard and have fun while doing
that. Offensively, I'm going to say it’s almost day and night difference.
Brought in a couple of tall and speedy receivers on board. We have a squad of
players that are just scrappy, never say die attitude, guys who will hustle on
every down. And these are the type of players that we really try to recruit.
One of the positions that we lacked last year was a big TE and just taller
receivers to help our offense stretch the field better. I think we have
addressed this need by bringing in Vik ,Linds and Pavan. Watch out for these
guys!
SAFL: U guys lit up the board for 58 points against Those Ravens. Wow!!!
Did you guys have your full team this game?
Jobin: I don't think we have ever had a full squad join us for a game yet! Matter of fact, we only had 3 guys on the squad against Those Ravens that had played together from last year. We are really excited to bring on board a talented group of receivers and that was evident in that game we played last Saturday.
SAFL: Would you regard the Slumdogs offense as the premier offense in the league? Or was that an exceptional performance?
Jobin: I would definitely like to think so! And that was our main concern coming into this season, to really be a force in the league on offense. Things are going according to plan, but I'm hoping we'll have our full team together starting week 4-5. Then we are really going to find out how well we are on both sides of the ball.
SAFL: Briefly Describe each of your teammates

SAFL: Briefly Describe each of your teammates
Jobin:
Mike: Dude's a sick QB. Limitless
potential, bring it any given Saturday attitude, Calm confidence about the way
he plays. Contagious personality.
Joshil: Voice of the
team. Makes plays out of nothing. glues the team together.
Jeff: Wes Welker.
Playmaker on defense and offense. Once he hits top speed it’s like a train
running on loose tracks. The dude has no brakes! lol
Boot: Team player,
deceptive route runner. Always got a smile on his face regardless of what
happens.
We got Rishi, Vik,
Linds, Ryan, Binny and Matt who are the new additions to the team. Welcome to
Slumdog Nation. Excited to play with these guys!
Shout out to Munesh and Neal. They won’t be playing with us this year but I know they will be cheering us on.
SAFL: If you were the commish, how would you improve the league?
Shout out to Munesh and Neal. They won’t be playing with us this year but I know they will be cheering us on.
SAFL: If you were the commish, how would you improve the league?
Jobin: Focus on making the league more known around queens, long
island. The league has done a tremendous job of organizing and making it super
competitive! Sad to see Anwar leave. Some big shoes to fill.
SAFL: Do you have any key observations teams/players after 2 weeks of SAFL?
Jobin: With all the new teams and players in SAFL this year, the league's got a broad set of talent and skill level on every team. There is not gonna be one game this season where we could assume a guaranteed win. After the first 2 weeks, the two teams that I would be personally interested in playing against would be the Savages and the Decepticons. Yash and Hashim are two of the best safeties in the league and it’s gonna be a challenge for any offense to break that D down. Deceptions have been creating a serious buzz around the league, so we would definitely like to see what they are all about.
SAFL: Have you seen anyone more impressive teams then Stop n Go?
Jobin: The Slumdogs of course! lol Stop and Go is probably the best team I've competed against in flag football. They have got tremendous team chemistry, superstars all across the board; you really can't pick out one person and say 'its cause of him'. That's the sign of a great team.
SAFL: Is there anyone in the league you wouldn't want to guard man to man?
Jobin: I know last year I had the toughest time guarding Dipan from Empire man to man(breaking my ankles in the process too! lol). Probably the two that would pose a challenge would be Suleman and Marc Flynn.
SAFL: Is there any validity to you having "bad hands"?
Jobin: Haha that certainly was the case last year! I knew personally that I really let the team down last year on the offensive side of the ball. Most of it had to do with the mental aspect of my game on offense. This is the one areas I have promised myself that I'll improve this season. Like Joshil always tells me 'think of it like Mike Chu is playing for the other team, just pick him off! 'lol
SAFL: What is the one key skill set you bring to the table for the Slumdogs?
Jobin: Anticipation and being in the right spot. One of those things I picked up playing soccer all these years. It’s amazing how so many of the skills set is transferable to no matter what sport you play.
SAFL: Give me your top three players in SAFL and why:

SAFL: Give me your top three players in SAFL and why:
Jobin: This is tough. I'm gonna say Hashim (dude is crazy on defense),
Aldo (rocket arm), and Suleman (hands down best playmaker).
SAFL: If there was an open draft, where does Jobin get drafted?
Jobin: I don't think SAFL would ever help me to remain humble! I would like to think I'd get drafted to play period haha. But I'm gonna say early 2nd round or at best late first round. You've got way too many elite athletes in this league that play at a great level.
SAFL: Where does Mike get drafted?
Jobin: You know if I were to draft him, he'll be my number one choice hands down. He is all about those intangibles! I would say more likely 6th-7th pick.
SAFL: Whats your finals prediction?
Jobin: Slumdogs over Bandits 33- 27
