Power Rankings Week 4
1) Spartans – Anwar has asserted himself as the elite QB of the league with no end in sight and continues to make a mockery of opposing defenses, especially The Believers, who suffered losing by way of mercy. Ouch. With a talented core led by Hashim and Jose, this team has all the tools to stay undefeated and to make significant noise in the playoffs. 2 mercy wins out of 3 has put the rest of the league on notice that they are a powerhouse. They don't seem like just playoff entrants, they are playing like potential playoff bullies.
2) Empire – All-World stat keeper Atif Tatari had an impressive showing last week, channeling his inner Jason Witten, hauling in 8 receptions and 2 TD’s. Although last week’s win against the Bandits should have been a blowout as many predicted, Empire continues to wreak havoc on the opposition, with the likes of Chris Mui at the QB helm and the two-headed monster known as DipZad running up and down the field at will. They have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. They are in the midst of their tough part of the schedule so we will get a better understanding of this team in a couple of weeks.
3) Savages – Finally, the breakout game we’ve all been waiting for from Irfan, huh? Nnamdi Vish Jain and the rest of the defense was no match for Irfan, along with Yash, as they had their ways with whatever coverage was thrown at them. Backup QB Pankaj did a stellar job, completing 17 of 25 passes and leading the Savages to a close, 24-20 victory over the Outlaws. With QB/Safety Zee back this week, Savages look to leapfrog Empire in the power-rankings. They have the talent to hover around the top of the rankings all season.
4) Stop-n-Go - Had they not lost to Empire in Week 1, maybe we’d be talking about Stop-N-Go at the top spot. Their QB situation is still a bit shaky, as they don’t know who to call on at certain situations during the game, but they’d better figure it out quickly because they face the Spartans this week and they’re known to have no mercy on the opposition. Look for Shumail and Suleman to be key threats this week, as these two virtually are the speediest guys in the league. Farhan, Usman and Kunal are also proving to be play makers.
5) No Games No Gimmicks – Can anyone stop Khuram? Had this team not added reinforcements, NGNG would probably be hovering around the basement of this league and Khuram’s amazing skill set would be gone to waste. They face the Believers this week, which looks to be an easy win for this 2-1 team. Their wins haven't been against top competition tho so we cant move them up any further than this but this team with its new pieces look like a huge threat from here on out. Size, speed and ability they got it all.
6) Slumdogs – QB Mike Chu has an absolute cannon for an arm. It was a sight, to say the least, to see him throw WITH EASE a bomb from his own 10 to the oppositions touchdown. But that’s where it ends for this team, as the Slumdogs had a huge advantage against NGNG as Khuram was out for an entire half, but could not seem to get anything going consistently on offense. They have a great match up against the Wolfpack this week, look for them to rebound. They also seem to flip-flop between QBs mid game which is surely a recipe for disaster.
7) Wolfpack – Amazing ‘almost’ comeback win last week against Stop-n-Go. There was so much hoopla surrounding this match up, but The Wolfpack could not backup the bulletin board material they were blasting all week. With all the hype surrounding Bubbles and the rest of the athletes on this team, Wolfpack had the league expecting them to be one of the elite squads. Their QB situation seems to be a toss-up after virtually every down, and after last week’s game was a heated exchange of words between Captain Niraj and a few of his teammates. Can this team finally get it together before its too late? They have talent that is for sure but most of them seem to be fighting over playing time rather than focusing one going after one established goal as a team.
8) Outlaws – A very solid showing the past 2 weeks and it seems as if Captain Mohammed has finally strung together a potent formula to get this team on the right track. All the parts are there, but its about when to use them and how to use them effectively. This team also follows the trend of having a questionable quarterback situation, but look for them to be better as the year goes on. Jawid seems to have won the QB job and Jeremy is an elite receiver. Defense is still shoddy however on long plays.
9) Bandits – Victor did a very good job filling in for Burhan last week while Burhan was out with suspension. Some might say he was even inspiring. It was all for naught however with another close loss. Marc, Harvey, Mohammed Soliman once again put up stats but they definitely missed Sakib. Brighter days are surely ahead for this winless team. Their core is very good and they are too talented to stay this low. Look for them to start pulling out some of these close games.
10) The Believers – What exactly are we supposed to believe in? After being absolutely humiliated by the Spartans, this team has gotten rid of their QB and look to have Razi start from here on out, but will that do this team any justice from here on out? Not much else to say about this team. Razi and Najeeb are usually very good recruiters but putting Musaib and Hamza in charge of the team might have been a mistake because they don't seem capable of even finishing close to a .500 record right now. Honestly we would be shocked with anything more than one more win.
