Recap- Playoffs Round 1- Slumdogs vs. Warriors

         VS.

This weekend will forever be dubbed "Upset Weekend". The Slumdogs, who were the 2nd best team in the SAFL, were confident that they would win against the Warriors. The first time these two teams met in the the regular season the Warriors lost by a touchdown. It was a tough loss with some crucial and costly mistakes but the Warriors always wanted a rematch of that game, their prayers were answered in the first week of the playoff season.

This time, the Warriors made no mistakes. Their defense was beasting and their offense was dominating. Niraj on the defensive side had 2 into's, one he returned for a TD. Mohamed on the offensive side, had 6 receptions with 2 TD's. Slumdogs started strong by chopping down the field and hitting the sideline. Warriors kept pressure and stopped them on the first drive. Warriors answered fairly quickly with a touchdown and a successful conversion. This gave the Warriors great momentum which they used throughout the game.

Before the game started, the Warriors were concerned for one player, Jobin. Last time they met, Jobin scored 3 touchdowns on them by running deep patterns. This time, Rob and Niraj made sure that wouldn't happen, and it didn't. Jobin was shut down throughout the whole game and this made the Slumdogs scrambling, barking and searching for secondary targets. Aldo threw great passes throughout the game, striking deep targets with a TD from Niraj and quick passes for TD’s from Mohamed Bahi who has proven to be the key to their success.

Warriors defense kept it cool throughout the game and played zone defense throughout the game since they played man defense the last time they met. They knew that they did not have the speed to play man defense so they played zone and helped each other out and made sure that no deep passes were thrown. As for the Warriors offense, they used excellent time management and had many successful running plays to Rob which he turned into big yards. This kept the Slumdogs defense on their toes every time Rob was in the backfield. Warriors used this to their advantage and had a beautiful play action play that Aldo threw to Niraj for a deep wide open pass to the 5 yard line. A quick pass to Mohamed for a TD gave the Warriors a 14 point lead over the Slumdogs. The Warriors clearly wanted this game more than the Slumdogs, Nothing can be taken away from the Slumdogs they are an excellent team and will be back next year.

A great win for the Warriors who are set to battle the Chargers, whom they defeated two weeks ago but also who are coming off an upset of their own over the Bandits. The winner of this advances to the Finals for a shot at the title.
