The Buzz Week 3

- Week 2 has shown where many teams stack up against each other. The talent level has significantly increased and veteran players have really stepped up their game.

- The GOTW really lived up to all the hype and then some. We saw the Savages take on the Bandits. After the Savages took a comfortable lead, Mo Solimon scored a TD off a punt return, the first of the season and re-energized the Bandits. The Bandits fought back hard after being down by more than 20 points at one point to eventually tie the game, send it to overtime and finish the game in a tie. Marc Flynn has again established himself as the premiere WR in the league. Anwar Sadat showed off the arm that earned him an MVP award. Hashim Naveed and Yash Shah are arguably the best safeties in the league. For a game that was toted as a defensive game it was anything but there was a combined 96 points scored. Neither team wanted to lose and neither team did. It will be interesting to see if this series will be a deciding factor come playoff time.

-The League has officially decided to extend the rosters to a 14 man roster. Teams do not have to participate in the increase in roster size but if they do they must pay The League an extra $80.

-Stop n Go had quite a scare by letting the Chargers score 20 points on them. After barely escaping the paws of the Slumdogs, many were expecting Stop n Go to re-establish their dominance by putting a beating on the Chargers. It was anything but. The Chargers held their own and showed glimpses of brilliance. Some forget that having a high football IQ can really set teams apart from others and the Chargers know the game. They are still a new team so we are not counting them out yet. We couldn't believe that Stop n Go gave up 20 to the Chargers. Are teams finally figuring out that stingy Stop n Go zone defense or is it championship hangover syndrome?  One thing is for sure though Stop n Go is 2-0 and still on top.

- Empire bounced back nicely this weekend by pouring on the points on a young Desert Eagles team. They put up 48 points and shut the DEagles out. Atif has done a nice job in deepening his roster. Kunal Jardosh was an especially nice pickup for Empire having 2 touchdowns against DE. They picked up more leadership experience in Faizal Sheriff and with Atif already being a great leader, this team is starting to look like a championship caliber team. Was week 1 a fluke? We can't be certain just yet so we will be keeping an eye on Empire.

-Desert Eagles are still working out some kinks and even though they are minor adjustments it is still tough to do on the fly and it is showing throughout the first 2 weeks. The DEagles would definitely benefit by leaving a man on the line rather than drop him into coverage. Without a hand in the QBs face, the DEagles are allowing the QB to get off accurate non-pressured passes which is not difficult especially if your name is Chris Mui. Lets see what adjustments will be made for week 3.

-As a player in the league you have a right to voice your opinions. Join the discussions by emailing Southasianfootball@gmail.com with your first and last name and the team you play for. We will send you login information. Let your voice be heard!

-After a heartbreaking loss to Stop n Go in week 1 the Slumdogs came back barking louder than ever. They put up 58 points on Those Ravens and are now looking to extend their dominance as a defensive and offensive machine. Mike Chu is making a case for himself as one of the top QBs in the league. Here is a bit of advice for all the other QBs in the league, STOP THROWING THE BALL TOWARDS JOBIN GEORGE. If you do your going to pay for it. Jobin's ability to read the QB is unmatched and he is also making a case for himself as the DPOY.

-Speaking of Those Ravens, after an impressive win in week 1, Those Ravens were looking to leave an imprint on the SAFL but after losing 4 starters due to scheduling conflicts Those Ravens' roster has been depleted and it showed. They let up 58 points after they only let up 20 last week and put up 26 after putting up 48 last week. Captain Ahmad Halimi is looking for new talent to add to an impressive core.

-A lot of injuries are being reported throughout the league many due to a lack of stretching and staying hydrated throughout the games. We all love the game but your health is the most important thing. Make sure you take precautionary measures to prevent more injuries. And if you are not sure what to do ask your team doctor!

-Moe Begawala has done an excellent job Captaining and quarterbacking his Decepticons. After an impressive outing in week 1 against Empire, The Decepts were another team looking to leave an imprint on the SAFL and they are definitely making some noise. Although they only scored 13 points in their win against the Warriors, The Decepts are showing signs of being one of the top teams in the league right now. 2-0 speaks for itself.

-A lot of praise has been given to QB and Captain Aldo which is well-deserved. Aldo has done a great job as the Warriors' QB but the receivers have not really helped him out too much. Dropped passes is a major concern for this team and if it continues it will be a long season for the Warriors. WR's help your QB out!

- A lot of action, a lot of competition  and a lot more football to be played!
