Mike Chu, Your are oficially on the SAFL Hot Seat.
Aight lets get this poppin!
What does Mike do when he's not playing football? Hobbies, daily activities? Where do you work?
I'm an auditor by day...homebody at night. Chillin with my boys from the hood....Ca$u, Benny, Vic, Boot, Neal yall know the deal!
Besides football, what other sports have you played organized?
Well this is the first time i have ever played organized football. Pretty fun so far. I was on basketball teams in high school both in school and out of school. Never anything spectacular.
Did you play any of those sports for your high school teams or just private leagues?
Played some basketball but thats the extent of my athletic career.
Other than football do you play any other sports? Are you any good? What positions?
Basketball - any position! lol...pretty much played it all my life...
Softball - no position? i suck
Who's your favorite pro athlete and why? Favorite football team?
Michael Jordan count? Forever the greatest....If not I'll go with Kevin Durant. Monster.
GO BIG BLUE!!!
How did you get involved with Slumdogs and SAFL?
I met Munesh and Joshil through a mutual friend few years ago and they asked me to join their football team when I saw them at a bbq. Rest is history!
Do you see the slumdogs as a franchise for the future that will continue to develop and compete year in and year out?
I definitely think the Slumdogs are a franchise that will be here year in and year out. Joshil and Munesh got this covered. We got the talent...just need to bring it together.
What do you attribute the 2 losses the Slumdogs have suffered this season to? One against an Empire team and another agains No Games No Gimmicks?
I think the Empire loss was more due to unfamiliarity with each other as half the team was different than the week prior, and the week prior was our first week ever playing with each other. We didnt play great in the first half, yet being only down 2 at the half...we tried to switch it up. Did not really work out. The loss carried over to the NGNG game and we just werent in sync and we lost a game I respectfully say we should have won.
As a team member, what do you think is the biggest challenge you have faced thus far?
I think the hardest thing is stepping to be a leader , which I think the QB must, with a bunch of guys you have never played football with before.
After watching you play, we all know first hand that your arm is insane. The critics have been chattering about you since the beginning of the season, what's missing to make you the top QB in the league?
Thanks for the props...but I think my accuracy is something that needs work. Having a strong arm is great...but if the throw isn't on target then what's the point.
For a while there this was a team employing two QBs. Do you feel like this is a winning strategy? If possible explain the thinking with team brass using this strategy.
Figured you would ask this lol. No, i don't think it is a winning strategy. I'll just say it was a difference of opinion. Again. with us all being new to each other guys are gonna have their opinion of what works and what doesn't. Still in the process of finding those things out. But I think we got that QB situation figured out...lol.
Looking at stats first thing you notice is the amount of drops this team has. As a QB how frustrating is it to see so many dropped passes?
I'd be lying to say it doesnt frustrate me at times but at the same time I don't always make the perfect throw when receivers are open. We are still adjusting to each other so I don't see that continuing. And when it does stop...ya'll know the deal!
Do you think Slumdogs have a shot to grab one of the top seeds and go into the playoffs with some momentum?
Do we have a shot? I think it is written...
What are some of the weaknesses of the Slumdogs and what are some of your strengths?
I think our main weakness is us not having played together. Once we get more familiar with each other.(theme of the interview),,,look out SAFL.
Strengths?? So tough to name them all we gonna be here for days.... but we FAST. Like Chris Johnson fast. Usain Bolt fast.
What do you expect from yourself this year as an individual? Is there a certain number of touchdowns or receptions your gunning for?
I just want to win. Win is what we gonna do. But Anwar got 22 right now? insane...I'll shoot for 75 TDs then...might just happen.
Even though its still a little early to call but which team do you think is your biggest threat/rival?
Again I havent seen the Spartans play...but its hard to avoid noticing what they are doing at 10pm on Saturdays. Also Empire, they have some of the top players in the league IMO and are the favorites to win. This week's game should be a dandy. My prediction? Empire wins 33-28. But if the Spartans win...take it easy on us week 6. Stop n Go also seems to have it all together. They seem like they got some nice players and play well together. Outlaws have some good players. They will make the playoffs.
If not your team which team are you rooting for most in the SAFL?
I can't really choose any one team...all the teams we have played or the guys I have talked to all seem cool so I hope the best for everyone. In other words, I aint really rootin for anyone!
If this was a draft which 3 SAFL players would go in the top 3 picks in your opinion?
Top 3
Chris - Gotta have a good QB in this QB league. He's the best IMO. Super accurate and a good arm.
Dipan - Great on both sides of the ball. Good size and speed. Just knows how to play football.
Neal Mehta- don't ya know!!
I think its safe to say that Anwar and the Spartans have some good players but I haven't ever seen em play since they play at like 10pm so I can't comment too much. We got some of the top players as well, but we haven't established ourselves just yet. Wait till the end of the season we'll be there.
So far from what you have seen and heard, what can the SAFL as a league improve on?
I think the best things going for SAFL are all the different features they have during the week like the Buzz, Rankings, Predictions. Definitely sets it apart from any other sports leagues I have been in. Some highlights (which I know arent easy) would be pretty cool to see. Shout out to Anwar and Co. ...doing a a great job.
There have been chatter about shortening the amount of time QBs have to throw the ball to blitzes, etc on the message boards. What are your thoughts on that?
Growing up playing football at the park...the blitz was always a fun thing to have. I don't think it is any different now. Give us a blitz!
I think a blitz after 2, 3 mississippi on the four downs after a first would work. Keep the 3 downs as is. They ain't sacking me anyways so who cares.
Having 5 seconds to throw is an eternity. But it should be interesting if/what changes will be made. A 2-man line would be interesting...but also a very different game. I kinda agree its tough to change some of these things as the rules were set out at the beginning. But I do think it is too geared toward having a good qb.
Aside from a player on your team, which athlete impresses you the most in this league?
If i had to pick one guy? Hmmm... I'll go with Atif. Ive seen like 3 Empire games as they are always playing after us it seems...the guy is a huge target. Catches everything...quick for a big guy. Hustles hard on defense and runs good routes. Definitely impresses me.
Tell us a little about the athletes on your team.
Aight this what i been waitin for. This isn't a free scouting report so you guys aint getting everything. But here goes...
Joshil - Devin Hester fast...unguardable
Jobin - Chris Johnson quick...unguardable
Jeff - Desean Jackson fast...unguardable
Gotham - Calvin Johnson fast...unguardable
Neal - Steve Smith fast...unguardable
Anil - Mike Wallace fast...unguardable
Ketan - Jason Whitten good...unguardable
Munesh - Antonio Gates clone...unguardable
damn that looks dangerous...feel bad for Stop n Go next week...(im just trying to create some hype to see if we can get that GOW)
Your a big fan of the website and league. Yet we only have Michael from your team on message boards? Why is this team so quiet? Or do you guys love going under the radar?
Work mannnn! Not sure though actually...some of them are socially awkward?
Any parting words? Message to the rest of the teams and captains.
Yeah ...those losses were aberrations. Don't get used to em. We coming.
Also guys on the field...try smiling...its all good! Its a game...lets have some fun out there.
