- 3 weeks of SAFL action is over. That went by fast. Standings are as follows so far-
- SPARTANS 3-0
- EMPIRE 3-0
- STOP N GO 2-1
- SAVAGES 2-1
- NGNG 2-1
- SLUMDOGS 1-2
- WOLFPACK 1-2
- THE BELIEVERS 1-2
- BANDITS 0-3
- OUTLAWS 0-3
- If you told me after week 1 that NGNG would be working on a 2 game winning streak I wouldn't have believed you. Now here they are climbing the standings and looking like a real threat. Committed players practicing on weekdays and adding more raw talent like Moe Bahi, Moe B., Aldo, Kenneth etc are the reasons everything is looking rosy in their camp.
- Slumdogs in the other hand have gone the wrong way since their dominating win in Week 1. Switching QBs back and forth in-game is not a recipe for success. Get a QB and stick behind him.
- Spartans and Empire are the only two undefeated squads in the league so far. Ranked in the middle of the pack in the preseason both teams have exceeded expectations so far. Relying on veteran QBs Chris of Empire and Anwar of Spartans, along with play makers such as Atif, Shahzad, Dipan, Jose, Hashim, Yamin etc they have the look of a team with championship aspirations.
- Last weeks GOW between Stop N Go and Wolfpack saw a thrilling game. Stop N Go once again blew a huge lead but was able to pull out the win luckily this time but they cant expect to play great one half and not show up the next if they want to keep racking up those wins. Shumail is having a huge year and needs to be ranked with any talk of best players in SAFL. The kid is all over the place.
- Wolfpack is now 1-2 with both their losses being by 6 each. There is tension in the team and the locker room seems a little divided. They need to pull it together.
- Was anybody there to watch Believers get absolutely smoked by Spartans by 38 points? The game was called with a little more than 6 minutes to go. Their week 1 win against Bandits is looking more and more like an aberration at this moment. Its not fair to pick on any one player, they need help everywhere. The defense is a good place to start. 52 points is embarrassing even if it is Spartans.
- Outlaws are this close to pulling out some upsets. This week against Savages Jawid looked like he solidified his role as the starting QB. They are still prone to giving up long plays in defense and Ramin was helped off the field with an apparent injury. They cannot afford losing Ramin to any extended period. Oh yea we're still waiting for "Nnamdi" Jain to make a play.
- Backup QB Pankaj of Savages put on a clinic Sat. Using mostly West Coast Short quick routes he was able to dissect an Outlaws defense. This guy can start for any number of teams.
- Big shout out to Harvey who filled in for Burhan admirably. Marc once again beasted. The definitely missed Sakib and Mohamed Soliman also looked terrific in offense. It was all for naught tho as they lost their 3rd straight game.
- Anwar leapfrogged Dipan in the MVP race by throwing for 6 more TD and no interceptions as Dipan missed the game this past week. There are other obvious candidates as well but if Anwar keeps this up who will touch him?
- Early GOW candidates are Stop N Go vs Spartans or Empire vs Savages.
- Only 15 followers on Twitter? That's embarrassing. Couple of more millions to go to catch up to Ashton Kutcher. Follow @SAFLFootball.
- Hope SAFL is allowed to switch fields to Eisenhower. Fields are so much better. Lets pray.
- NON SAFL Thoughts- Dream team Eagles 1-3, Romo is a hero one week and a goat the next, Megatron is a beast i mean did you see his TD catch over 3 defenders? Cam Newton is doing things no Rookie has ever done. Beastmode. I have Rodgers, Brady and Welker as my top 3 in MVP so far. SNF Jets vs Ravens had to be the weirdest game ever. 51 total points scored and the QBs had like 33 percent completion rate?
- Stop N Go now using 3 QBs a game? Usman at the red zone, Talha as the regular QB and someone else throwing the bombs?
- Let me get this straight. The two teams that have the sickest jerseys are a combine 0-6?
- What are you doing Bubbles? Kid was found to have tied his belt. Lucky for his this was the first SAFL offense and umpire let him off the hook without ejection and only a unsportsmanlike penalty and loss of down. Must be embarrassing for Captain Niraj.
- Harvey Harding of Bandits was chosen to be interviewed by SAFL. Look for his interview to be published tomorrow night. 5 years in the making.
